"All be it some people may like the idea of the Iphone but the cost has to be
taken into consideration (approximately £35 a month"

You can go PAYG which is rather more expensive but still only with O2, this has
been my thought process as well. It seems with Apple and to some extent with
others that it is all about the upfront cost of the device at point of sale
where the marketing focus is. This leaves users post sale really counting the
cost where it really can count. The market in handsets is predominately a
subsidised one in any case and the carriers anticipate lower margins and
therefore have longer contracts. Apple themselves takes cuts all over the
place and all this is doing no harm to their margins.

I am in some agreement with Sam that £35 monthly is quite a lot, the yanks pay
more proportionately for their plans on iPhone. Personally until the iPhone is
untethered from exclusive operator access I probably would not be in the game
in any case.

Regards.
