Hi Scot. It’s been a while since I used InDaisy since I now mainly use Audible, but you need to zip up each folder separately, as in each folder containing one audio book. You cant upload multiple books in one zip file. I suggest you read the documentation found at www.levelware.com which will explain the upload options in more detail. What is audible you ask? Audible is a website where you can buy digital audio books, a bit like Amazon’s kindle store. You buy the books, then with either the Audible app for IPhone or through ITunes and the audible download manager software, transfer the books to your IPhone for on the go listening. They have thousands of titles, over 60 thousand and counting and release new ones every few weeks. They also have classic radio dramas as well as arts programming, self improvement, health, business and technology related books and so on. Audible has a unique credits system, where you can purchase any book on their website using a packaged credit in a membership plan. If you do it right and buy your credits in advance, you can save hundreds if not thousands of pounds on the purchase of your virtual library. I have over 300 titles on my bookshelf and counting. All the best, Ibrahim. From: Scott Sent: Saturday, December 10, 2011 4:16 PM To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: IPOD and RNIB talking books Hi Ibrahim. I have my own audio books saved to my computer. I zipped up the folder using winzip free version. I then added the zipped folder to itunes under the apps tab with the ipod connected. Once it has added I press the sync button and it creates a directory file as per the user instructions on itunes. It looks correct on itunes at this stage. I then press the refresh button on my ipod but it still does not recognise the zipped file? Could you give me a more in-depth step by step guide on how to put my own audio books on to the ipod. I even tried looking at it using the ftp server and the zipped files I have added show on the internet explorer. As before it has a directory file and a zipped file and looks the same as the original user manual pre-loaded on daisy. Regards Scott. ----- Original Message ----- From: Ibrahim Gucukoglu To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, December 05, 2011 2:50 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: IPOD and RNIB talking books Hi Jeff. In order to listen to talking books on an IPod, you’d need a daisy player. A couple of them exist on the app store, I personally use InDaisy, a product made by Levelware. You’d need to zip up the contents of the talking book CD, that can be done in Windows without any additional software, then transfer it using ITunes to your IPod via the upload file to application functions or using InDaisy’s built in file transfer server. All quite a lot of effort for the end result, just one of the reasons I use Audible for my book listening needs on my IPhone. All the best, Ibrahim.
