Hi Jackie. Sky HD does indeed carry AD. Regarding freeview televisions with the built-in AD, I see that Panasonic, Sony, Toshiba and Philips are all producing mainstream sets with this facility. I reckon from a very cursory adding up, there's well over 60 sets now available on the market. Covering both LCD and plasma, in case that's of interest to any of us! Personally, I don't see why it | wouldn't be feasible for all digital TV sets to incorporate the AD facility | in them so that it banishes this need to buy AD only devices. It would make | the choice much wider. | | Out of interest, do you have a Sky HD box, and if so, does it carry AD too? | I very seldom ever listen to one event at a time, probably started years | back when I would have a tranny clamped to my ear for the sport while the | family watched it on TV. Now I do both automatically as it adds to the | atmosphere, and I like to get different perspectives on what's going on. | Spoilt for choice tonight though as Sky is carrying all the Champions League | games, and I can't decide what to go for yet (smile). | | Jackie | | Email: cairnsplace@xxxxxxx | Skype Name: Cairnsplace | ----- Original Message ----- | From: "Terry Clasper" <terry.clasper@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> | To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> | Sent: Wednesday, February 20, 2008 12:06 PM | Subject: [access-uk] Re: Freeview set top boxes | | | > Jackie. | > Glad someone is as bad as me for multiple eventing! | > Like you I use Sky for my main viewing, however have the Panasonic set | > upstairs. | > The audio quality is beautiful and once you learn your way around the | > menus you can get a nice balance between mainstream audio and AD. | > Even listening to freeview radio the sound is very good! | > As David says a further useful facility is the ability to determine | > whether AD is on speakers and headphones or one or the other. | > | > | > ----- Original Message ----- | > From: "Jackie Cairns" <cairnsplace@xxxxxxx> | > To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> | > Sent: Wednesday, February 20, 2008 11:41 AM | > Subject: [access-uk] Re: Freeview set top boxes | > | > | >> Hi David | >> | >> Thanks very much for the useful update.
