Hi

I have noticed loss of sound quality on freeview and it usually coincides with engineering work on the transmitters or in severe weather conditions.

Regarding up sizing your T.V. are you gauging the size of a twenty six inch model with the old CRT type? Have you laid hands on a demo of a LCD set of similar screen size, they take up much less room than a CRT job.

Analogue gets turned off here next year, I just hope that the increased signal strength and greater number of repeaters goes some way to improving digital services.

Cheers!

Hi Everyone

Apologies for the length of this message.

I have been watching Freeview for over 5 years using a Nokia Communicator with no problems. Every so often, it breaks up, but soon corrects itself. We
had a
new aerial fitted when we moved to this house. It has an amplifier, so Freeview should be ok.

Earlier this year I decided that I would like to be able to select audio description. I already have a nebula box, so can listen on my PC, but I thought it would
be
good to attach a box to the television.

I purchased a Logik box from Currys. I connected it up and was concerned about the quality of the sound and the audio description. On some stations, in particular ITV3, the soundtrack broke up while the audio describer was talking. also, on ITV1 the audio description stopped working. If I switched it off and
on
again it started again.

I sent the machine back and had a refund as they had no more in stock.

I then bought one, for more money, from RNIB. I have connected it up and seem to be encountering some of the same problems. I noticed that the audio
description on BBC1 kept jittering.

I have another problem now: ITV4 has an echo. This is also happening on the PC but the Nokia is ok.

Has anyone else had these problems and, if so, what did they do about them? Are there any settings I sould be amending?

Or, is the Logik Box not very good quality? Should I forget about audio description until something better comes along? I know there are various televisions which have it, but the smallest one, as I understand it, is 26 inches, and we do not have room for it.
