John, if I was one of the ones you are referring to, I'd say MalwareBytes without a doubt and also Superantispyware is accessible and very good.
A couple of things that make me biased towards MalwareBytes are that it seems a deal more thorough than anything else I've tried (more bad news at times, but sometimes you need to know!), and if I can't be bothered to find my way around the program's screens, there are a few things I can carry out from the command line, which is very handy at times.
