Hi Marie, Not sure if youve managed to sort out the OE problem but if not hopefully this might help.

Pretend for arguments sake that the folders you want to access in OE are called Backup1 2 etc. Go to OE and create these folders so that they appear in the list of folders in OE. Because they haven't got any emails in them they will be empty. Then go to the location where OE's folders are stored and paste the folders that you want to access in, you will be asked if you want to replace the folders with these ones. Say yes. Then go back to OE and to the backup1 folder you should see all the emails that were stored in it. Just make sure that you have read messages set to display.

Be careful before replacing an OE folder though, because if there are any emails in the folder that you are replacing these will be lost.

thanks Roger, I've tried that many times, I see the folders there but they won't open. That's why I saved them somewhere else to have a go with, alas!.. the same result.
That's where the puzzle is.

Anymore idea anyone?

Hi Marie

It's an involved route but here goes:

C:/Documents & Settings/(User Name- Marie?)/Local Settings/Application Data/Identities/(OE Code Number)/Microsoft/Outlook Express

This will finally bring you out where the OE folders are lodged.

I assume your OE is on C drive. If not substitute the correct drive letter. The two items in brackets/parenthesis are unknown so you will have to enter the ones from your system.

Hope it helps

Roger

If you must choose between two evils, pick the one you've never tried before.

Hi all,
On my pc I have saved some dbx files for future reference gleaned from this and other lists.
The first time I tried to open these files the pc ask me what program I wanted to open them with. It wanted to open wordpad, I knew this wasn't right so I chose browse and found outlook express wasn't on the list provided. so I looked in other programs and found outlook express there. The trouble was that there was more than one outlook express type program with a exe extension in the main outlook express folder to choose from. I picked one and it is obviously the wrong one because the dbx files won't open.
My outlook express program works properly and it must be reading dbx files.
How do I find out what part of the program is working when I use it so that I can choose that one to open those other dbx files stored on my machine.
Does this make sense to anyone?
If so, please enlighten me please, I would be very sad if I couldn't read those files anymore especially when I know they are present on the pc.
Looking at their properties I don't see anything sttrange.

Thanks in advance..with warm sunshine from the south of France sent to all and everyone of you.

Marie
