Hi
I have both the BBC iPlayer and TVPlayer apps on my Apple TV and they are both
great and provide lots of live TV as well as on-demand. Be mindful though, the
catchup feature of TVPlayer leaves a lot to be desired, and this is nothing to
do with my internet connection despite the recent area specific problems which
has now been resolved. I don’t take this to be a dealbreaker though. I also
have NowTV which, like its app on the third generation, note I have and am
talking about the fourth generation here, offers both live TV and on-demand
content, both working flawlessly.

Steve and all. on the apple tv front, it's true that it doesn't do freeview
but it does do some live tv - TVNow offers some live channels along with
other news channels etc.. I have not personally tried bbc iplayer using it
but wouldn't be surprised if there was a live feed per channel.
In any event, because of the new format of apple tv that allows for the
creation and downloading of apps, i suspect we will see significantly more
streamed live stuff appearing on the platform.

Hi Carol,
Yes, Apple TV is a bit of a misnoma, because it doesn't pick up terrestrial
TV at all. It's only Netflix, Youtube and other services. Android TV is
the same though, lest people think I am hitting on Apple. <Smile>.
All the best
Steve

No, sorry John: I'd already thought of having one but, alas, you can't (so
far as I'm aware) get those Freeview channels. To my mind, it's a load of
"rubbish", but then some like it! <Smiles>
Each to his own, aye!

what a sad situation for us eh with regards to doing recordings as a blindperson. so i must ask about the apple tv something i have never thought
about or looked in to it at all. so of course you must be able to get the
normal tv channels on it like the freeview. just a thought i have the iphone
app to view now surely i could record from that but, could i get audio
discription on it not sure.

Hi John
I haven't subscribed to Sky now for a long time, I just don't have
the time to watch football, and tend to listen to some of it free on
the radio. We still use our Sky HD box though for free channels, but
the Sky Plus app doesn't allow you to record because you need to
subscribe to a package for that to work. Thank goodness for TVonics
then which we use when we want to record a documentary or something.
Kind Regards,
Jackie Brown

it is still available. It only speaks channel names, there is no EPG
There used to be one for around #70 called Sky Talker, but I don't
know if
available.
thing.
Sky have really got away with not providing accessibility on their
boxes unless you can use one of the apps. I personally think Ofcom
should have come down on them and other providers like Virgin Media
really hard given what they charge people. Still, a rant for
another time and place! (smile.)
