Hello All,

I am making enquiries about the quality and possible drawbacks
of the basic Del Dimension 3000 computers with Celeron
processors which Dell are currently advertising as a beginner's
system at:

www.dell.co.uk/offer

This is to advise a friend on whether to go for one of these as
a starter PC or not.

I would assume that there are some people on this list who may
have purchased such a system and can advise on any drawbacks or
weaknesses they may have found with the Dimension 3000. It is
advertised at a very good price of only 291 pounds, so I am a
little uncertain about its pedigree because of the low price. I
must point out that this machine would be for a person not
wanting to use any kind of games or CPU and memory hungry
programs.

Thanks, in advance, for any comments from those already using
such a system or having any specific firm knowledge about their
weaknesses or deficiencies to assist my more general knowledge
in my evaluation. Please note that the fact that these machines
only have onboard integrated video and sound is not an issue, as
I can fit basic cards for him myself or get Dell to do this.

Regards,
John.
