Hi Yusuf.

The manual for the player says there is an audio button on the physical remote to select a specific language track but I haven't had chance to try this yet or play with the iPhone app equivalent.

I'll report back as soon as I've had more time to check it out.

Regards.

Kevin

Hi Steve.

Had a little bit more of a play now.

There is a setting in the network menu on the player that has to be
changed to allow remote use. Once this was changed, on entering the app
I saw the blue ray player straightaway.

Double tapping on the player in the list then revealed the different
tabs such as menu and playback that you will have seen with the demo.

It was interesting that the disc I chose to test it with first showed a
message on screen to choose United Kingdom or other options with an OK
button. The remote app couldn't activate this and tapping play or any
other button flashed an operation not allowed message on screen.

Resorting to the play button on the physical remote got past this
message and then the remote app was able to be used fully to pause,
skip, play and all other functions. There is a slight 2-3 second delay
on the app in terms of the display of the buttons changing from play to
pause for example but the operation on the player is immediate as soon
as you tap on the action required.

As mentioned previously, the physical remote is actually very accessible
with play and power buttons marked and the buttons various shapes and
sizes.

My conclusion is that the player is about as accessible as could be
expected from a mainstream player with no voice feedback.

Regards.

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Yes, that's great thanks. I'm really interested to see how you get on.
I see the remote ap works with around half a dozen players up to around
£350 or so.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Steve

Hi Steve.

I haven't had much time to play with the player as yet and specifically
the iPhone app. What I would say though is that set up requires sighted
assistance but is very easy and quick to complete and I had no problems
connecting to my wireless network.

The physical remote that comes with the Panasonic is quite user friendly
in itself with the play and 5 buttons already marked.

Having tried to use the app initially, it still couldn't find the player
and I believe there might be a setting to allow remote use hidden
somewhere in the menus so I'm waiting again for some sighted assistance
to find that and set it. Hopefully, I should be able to let you know
after then how successful the app is controlling the player.

Hi Kevin,

Great, thanks for this. I see the app works with about 5 or 6 Panasonic
models.

Can you let me know how you get on with it, particularly now with the app.
I've downloaded the app and although there is obviously no device
detected, all the options in the app seem to correctly speak. I'll wait
to hear from you and be quietly hopeful! Smiles.

Steve

Hi Steve.

It’s not a personal endorsement just yet but here’s the blue ray player
we’ve just ordered. You can download the iPhone app and play with it as
a demo ahead of ordering the player to see what can be done in terms of
operation from the iPhone itself.

Hi All,

Bit of a generic question. Can anyone suggest a blue ray player which
they have found to be reasonably accessible. To be honest, I’m not
interested in all the online disk content, just simply to watch the
film. I’ll have it connected up to an Arcam AVR400 AV amp though it is
only running in standard stereo mode at the moment.

Look forward to any comments.

Steve
