Hi if all else fails, try going into safe-mode and do a system restore right back before the problem accured. I know this has solved a majority of my problems. I've done a system restore when it involved a bluescrean issue. I got a positive result out of it. ----- Original Message ----- From: "roger south" <roger.south@xxxxxxxxxx>

Subject: [access-uk] Blue Screen

Hi All

My son has a Compaq Presario laptop running XP. He got the dreaded blue
screen last night. I told him to re-boot with his Compaq restore disc. This
gave a message saying:

Gateway Port Open. Retry, Cancel, Abort.

He can get no further than this. Has anyone any ideas about this please.

Roger
