Yusuf
I think if you are lucky enough to get a Plextalk you should still get
reasonable battery life. My Plextalk still gives hours of battery life after
almost three years use.

cable for Victor Classic?)

Personally Ray, I can't understand RNIB's paternalistic attitude when it
comes to the players it loans out to its customers. If its unwilling to
upgrade their firmware and the customer feels confident enough to be able to
do it themselves they ought to be able to get on with it. Its one reason why
I didn't take a player when my local authority started paying for my
subscription. I dread the day when my trusted Plextalk PTR1 gives up and I
have to find the money for a replacement PTR2. I certainly get a couple of
hours battery life out of it and if I'm using the CF card rather than a CD
its more.

From what I've heard about the machines the RNIB loans, the battery either
doesn't work when not on external power or runs out so rapidly that they are
useless.

Let me take this opportunity to wish everyone here a very merry christmas
and a happy new year.
