Yup Darren,

Sounds like a Gremlin got into the works.  Fingers crossed it wont' come
back.

If it does...  some possible things.  Uninstall Winamp, reboot.  Re-install
a fresh downloaded copy of Winamp.  If it persists and you notice the
distortion in other audio outputs, (EG, your Screen Readers Text To Speech
and Windows Sounds), it might be a soundcard issue.  It could be other
hardware faults as well, but hopefully all's well now.
