I'm using a new mailing list system, and this is the first time I've tried to send an HTML message. Some are based on Outlook's various appearances in the most recent versions. There are new icons for the toolbar, options window, properties window, and menus. New file format Alarm++ now uses XML to store its data. The previous .alm format was binary and unreadable. The new .alarm format is XML and easily quite readable. If you want to make changes to many different alarms at once (such as changing the path to your media files), it's easy to exit Alarm++, edit your .alarm file in Notepad, and start Alarm++ again. Alarms are now copied/pasted as XML instead of tab-delimited text. Alarms can also be copied/pasted as files, allowing them to be easily exchanged with other people. You can drag/drop one or more alarms into an e-mail message or onto your desktop. Then you or someone else can drag/drop them back into Alarm++. http://www.12noon.com/graphics/mainwndw.png <http://www.12noon.com/graphics/mainwndw_50.png> New "pre-offset" date/time columns Alarm++ has two new columns in the main window that display the "base" date and time of the alarm. This is the date/time before any offset is applied, not necessarily when the next event will occur. Unicode Support If you're not familiar with Unicode, don't worry about it. It means only that there is more broad support for the character sets of different languages. More features and fixes You can read about additional changes on the Alarm++ Changes <http://www.12noon.com/alarm_history.htm> page. Registered Customers If you've registered Alarm++ 6 or 7, you're entitled to a free upgrade. Go to www.12noon.com and click on the "Registration" link to request your registration upgrade. Your new registration will be mailed to you right away. When Alarm++ opens your existing .alm file, it will automatically convert it to the new .alarm format. It will also rename your .alm file to .alm.old. If you have an Alarm++ shortcut that specifically opens your .alm file, you will need to modify it to open the new .alarm file. For example, your shortcut might be like this: "C:\Program Files\12noon Alarm++\Alarm.exe" "C:\Users\GUEST\My Documents\MyAlarms.alm" That will need to be changed to something like this: "C:\Program Files\12noon Alarm++\Alarm.exe" "C:\Users\GUEST\My Documents\MyAlarms.alarm" Or you can modify the shortcut not to pass anything to alarm.exe and use the "Open the most recent alarm file at startup" option instead. "C:\Program Files\12noon Alarm++\Alarm.exe" _____ You'll find more information, including documentation and examples at 12noon.com. <http://www.12noon.com> Please visit the 12noon forum <http://forum.12noon.com> for support, comments, and questions.
