The Ship would be yet another two weeks in the docks at Earth Station
McKinley. There wasn't muh more for the crew to do aboard ship, so
they were all offered leave time. Roman decided it would be a good
idea to go home. He had initially wanted to spend some time with Gwen,
but when he found out she had gone back to her native Ireland, he
decided it would be a good idea for him to return to his home as well.
It had been a long time since he had been home and a part of him
suddenly craved the closeness of his clan.
Haas secured transport on a the USS Melina Bay which was
heading to the Rigelian sector for normal space patrol. The trip took
three days. Roman spent most of that time in his guest quarters, where
he again poured over data they had collected from their brief encounter
with the Enclave.
The moment Roman materialized in his clan's village, he could "feel"
everyone, and they suddenly felt his presence. Rigellians were not
open telepaths, but with the closeness of their clans they imediately
felt the loss at a clan member's departure, and the wonderfulnes of
their return. In earlier days, very few people ever left Rigel V, and
if anyone did, they never did so alone. They always needed permission
from the clan elders, because the loss of one of the clan was always
took a toll on the clan's well-being.
As Roman walked towards his parent's home, shopkeepers and other clan
members would stop what they were doing and come out to welcome him
home. With each touch, hug or kiss from the many mbers of this clan,
Roman could feel the strength of the clan build in him. He could fel
the comfort he ad felt as a boy, the feeling that no harm could come to
him.
When Roman stepped into his childhood home, his mother was already
waiting for him. His father had left his repair shop and rushed home
to greet his son. They had initially protested his desire to leave the
village and join Starfleet, but were now extremely proud of their son.
Rommie could feel their love and happiness at his return. He knew the
week ahead would be full of the closeness and intimacy the clan had
provided as he was growing up. He was glad to be home.
