Gwen walked into her office. She had just finished eating with
Rommie. At first she was going to go to the bridge, but then decided
that since nothing was going on, she would take care of some
"paperwork" in her office. She couldn't believe how fast things could
easily pile up. With being ACO and all the Quidditch practice Rommie
piled on before the game, Gwen had to give something. That something
was this paperwork. Which was now coming back to haunt her. She knew
that she'd be back practicing Quidditch soon. The match was going to
be rescheduled. But, for right now, there was no practice and she
wasn't needed up on the bridge. It seemed like the perfect time to do
some catching up.
After about 20 minutes of going through some routine files, Gwen
picked up a PADD that contained the bio of a Cadet Wren. She didn't
remember having any cadets on the ship (though Mal was probably
close). Then she saw the communiqué attached to the file. Apparently
this Cadet had been assigned to the Eagle. It took her a minute, but
then she recalled a conversation she had had with Commodore Fyrstk. He
had been complaining a bit about how Starfleet had inquired about
sending a Cadet to the ship. The Commodore had not been happy about
it, but had agreed. Gwen got the impression that Starfleet might have
done a little bit of coercing to get his approval.
Of course, this was all before Mal had kind of taken up doing
officer work on the bridge. If Lukas allowed his step-son on the
bridge, he might be more open now to having a Cadet posted to his
ship. Though, of course Lukas knew his step-son very well and knew the
kids ability. The same couldn't be said for the cadet. This was
definitely going to be interesting
Gwen looked at the date for when the Cadet was suppose to be
transferred and cringed. Hailey was already on Starbase 325 and was
set to be transferred to the Eagle sometime in the next week.
Basically the next time that the Eagle docked at the Starbase the new
cadet would be joining the crew. She needed to give her CO the heads
up on this.
Looking at the pile of work she'd completed and the work that she
still had, she decided it was time for a break anyways. She figured
she'd head up to the bridge and talk with the CO in private about this
situation. A face to face conversation was probably the best way to
go. With that she cleaned up her office a little and headed out.
