In most districts, there is an educational technology committee that

the need for a coordinated approach to address Internet access and
school safety in the ASO.

know." Join Leni Donlan in the ASO to explore "Explorers and
Exploration" through primary sources from The Library of Congress.

* Alt/Correctional Ed Forum: National At-Risk Education Network
6:00-7:00pm PDT
Guest speaker Anthony Dallmann-Jones' past background as an educator
includes being a professor teaching in Marysville Reformatory for Women,
and London Correctional Prison for Men in Ohio. He currently is
professor of at-risk education for Marian College in Fond du Lac, WI.
Anthony also directs the National At-Risk Education Network. Please
visit the NAREN the website at www.AtRiskEducation.Net
NAREN exists to support educational
stakeholders in better serving at-risk students. The definition of
at-risk is broadened to not only mean at-risk of dropping out of school,
but also at-risk of not succeeding in life. Obviously many people who
have gotten a diploma have not been well prepared to deal with life, and
if education continues to bury its head in the sand with the belief that
children are well-served just to have academic content thrust at them
then our welfare and prison counts will continue to swell in number.

Anthony has just finished publishing "SHADOW CHILDREN ~ Understanding
the Nation's #1 Problem" in which we can see both the personal and
financial crises being created by our at-risk population, plus some
straight out info on how to establish a quality at-risk educational
program. Join Anthony to discuss this book and NAREN in the ASO.
