It sounds like you're working on a protected form. If that is the case,
the form was locked so you cannot edit it. If you must, try clicking
Tools/Unprotect document. However, know that if you attempt to protect
it again, all the information in the form fields will be erased! Also,
the creator may have added a password so you cannot unlock it without
that pass.

If YOU were the document creator and the document is now locked...it
sounds like you may have opened a virus that has caused all your
documents to go into protection mode.

Having the File/New menu removed could have been done in the VBA code of
the form in an effort for you not to use this feature. It's common for
form creators to remove standard Word menus so the users don't mess up
the process by attempting to use commands that are not allowed within a
particular form.

Subject: [mso] Cannot edit Word documents!

I cannot edit any document in MS Word.

Whenever I try to edit a document, I get this message on the status bar:

'This command is not available because the document is locked for edit'

The other problem, the 'New' option in File menu has disappeared!!!

Please help.

Thanks

Mohammed
