Hi

This question has cropped up on csa.hardware. Someone bought an Iyonix

on the password, how evil is that. Anyway I do not know the answer
either and could not find it on the web, neither is it in the manual.
It is a link on the RiscPC.

So what to do on the Iyonix?

the hardware is similarly arranged on the iyo. PL414 jumper, if installed, locks the cmos to password only .

the value stored in cmos is a 1 way encryption of the password.. not really practical to decrypt.

so -- only way in practice to sort this is to corrupt the cmos ram .. as it is I2C (i.e. permanent, not battery backed) ram this means overwriting it without using OS code. e.g. using the HAL routine for this.

once the cmos checksum is corrupt, a normal reboot will default the cmos.

write cmos 239 with 0 .. but the OS routines e.g. fx162 will only let you do this if cmos not locked.

The code will be fairly simple, but not something currently written, nor something to be posted directly on a newsgroup.
