The definitive keyboard is on its way – Happy news: the new keyboard,
already tested at the manufacturing partner, is on its way to the Next team
in the UK for a final ‘I’ve tested it myself’ confirmation before the
greenlight for mass production, which should happen as soon as next week.
The new keyboard, based on an extended matrix as explained in the previous
update (

), already proved a 100% accurate on the composite keys that were giving us
so much grief, closing this much long-winded chapter of the project. With
this last step out of the way, we’re now ramping up for the full production
of the keyboard and case, then shipping all of it to Nottingham for final
assembly and posting to the backers. There’s light at the end of the tunnel
at last! In the next couple of weeks we’ll get some pictures of the
keyboard and cases plants churning out 3,000+ units and packaging them for
travel, so expect a shorter timespan between this and the next update. In
other news… NextOS feature: Text to Basic =============================
Garry Lancaster has done it yet again: a new feature of the NextOS converts
.txt files straight into Basic listing for running on the Next. This handy
command makes sharing and editing Basic programs a breeze both on and off
the Spectrum Next, and sharing programs possible in pretty much any way you
can think of -- even through social media posts! . Night Knight migrating
from MSX =============================== If you’re into the MSX, you’ve
probably heard of Night Knight by Juan Martinez, a recent title released
for the much beloved platform. David Saphier ported the game to the
Spectgrum Next, and it looks great -- check out the video below and more
