The passing of a legend

Last week the Speccy world lost its shaper: Rick Dickinson passed away on
Tuesday, April 24th.
Without Rick there would be no ZX Spectrum, at least not as we came to know
and love it. His incomparable design sensibilities brought us all a piece of
art that is as elegant today as it was three and a half decades ago, an
iconic computer whose form stands towering above anything else of its time.
Without Rick there would be no ZX Spectrum Next. His kind dedication of time
and care to bring up our computer into being was the push that got the team
into this adventure; he infused the project with the soul of a true Speccy.
Rick will leave a huge hole in our hearts, something is now painfully amiss.
We’re dedicating the ZX Spectrum Next to his memory, a physical testament to
his genius and passion for pure design. May our computer always remind us of
this incredible artist, who made us all fall in love with the Speccy.
Phil Candy, Rick’s partner at Dickinson Associates, will carry on the flame
and keep the design studio going, as it was Rick’s wish. Phil and Rick have
been working together for 23 years in every project the studio undertook,
including the Next.
