Yes your question about the context I'm using this in is a good one. However,
I have use a different method in getting my MediaWiki pages statically
separated by using one of MediaWiki' maintenance commands. Specifically, the
dumpHTML.php command to create a static web page so these can be portable to
customers.

Just to let you know I am using Windows XP with WikiTaxi loaded there.

Thanks for responding

Another user has reported the same problem, but I was not able to reproduce it
with my machine. My first guess was that dump file did not download correctly.
Unfortunately, the other user did not follow up.

In order to help I would need more information, especially which dump file you
are importing (with an MD5 checksum so I can check for integrity), and possible
the Windows version on which you are running the Importer.

This is interesting and I would like to lean more about how you use WikiTaxi in
this context!

The importer currently works with BZip compressed files only, plain XML files
do not work. Support for plain XML an *gz compressed files has been asked for,
and I hope to make it available in a future version.

If you can make your self-generated dump file available it might help me to
locate the problem. Please feel free to contact me off-list if you wish so.
