In the Advanced reference manual there is a chapter early on describing the
fork of Yoshimi from ZynAddSubFx and the various differences that were
developing at that time. Also at the end of the document there are a number of
links that people can follow if they want to with more info. There are also
some quite specific quotes.
All that is quite reasonable and I don't think anyone can question it, but
dotted through the rest of the document there are further times where the
differences are described. Also, there are places where the document swaps
between Yoshi and Zyn while describing the same feature. This is something
I've been getting progressively uneasy about. It must be quite confusing for
new users and it's almost like we're apologising for being different.
I've kept quiet about this up till now, taking the view that maybe I was
overthinking it, but today one of our users asked why, and whether we needed to
mention Zyn in those places.
So, what is the general feeling on this?
