Dear all,
It's me again, with a short update on the earlier shared vacancy. The first
round of interviews has been completed, and we have invited some exciting
candidates for the next round. However, given the short time span during which
the vacancy was open and given the fact that for such an important position we
would like the whole staff to have its say about the candidate, we have
reopened the vacancy until December 6th.
I would encourage you to apply for the position if:
- you are not afraid of teaching, and teaching new courses. The
teaching load will be over 50% when starting, but depending on your acquisition
and projects this can be downscaled on an annual basis.
- if you have a strong natural sciences background but also a keen
interest in (collaborating with) social sciences and humanities
- if you happen to have expertise on spatial analysis / scenario
development / social-ecological systems / data management and analysis or
something else that you think our institute needs urgently :) . This is not
explicitly mentioned in the vacancy, but take it from me that this is something
we'll look for in new applications.
Do not hesitate to contact me for any further questions. Link:

Subject: Vacancy: Assistant professor 'Natural Resources Management' @ Leiden
University (NL)
Dear all,
Please note that there are ten days left to apply for the following position at
my institute, the Institute of Environmental Sciences: Assistant Professor
'Natural Resources Management'.
You will see that the vacancy is quite broad. This means that we ask for a
candidate to bring his or her own specialty into the mix. Together with my
colleagues, we will see how you and your expertise fit in! Hopefully we will be
teaching together, setting up the new transdisciplinary Master programme
'Governance of Sustainability' and setting up new exciting research projects.

Alexander
