Dear YESSers,
My name is Carla Elliff. I am a Scottish-Brazilian oceanographer currently
working on my doctorate degree in geology.
I have been studying coastal ecosystem services since my master’s thesis
and have really enjoyed being a part of YESS. I come from a small research
group from the Universidade Federal da Bahia and I am currently the only
one working with ecosystem services. The YESS network has allowed me to
broaden my research and feel more integrated.
I would like to nominate myself as a candidate for the Executive Team. I
hope to contribute towards the existing activities of the network and help
promote a sense of community. I understand the pressures and high
expectations we are subjected to as early-career researchers. I believe an
active participation in a group such as YESS can really help make this
period run smoother and at the same time make us grow.
I will be co-hosting with my colleague Samara Martins this year’s YESS
session at the Latin America Regional ESP Conference and would really like
to meet other members face to face!

Dear YESSers,
we are writing you today to kick off the nomination process for the new
Executive Team.
As decided at the YESS Plenum (16 July), the *new Executive Team* *can
have a minimum of two and up to five members*. The tasks of Executive
Team members are described in an online document

Executive Team members are *elected for one year*.
You can *nominate yourself *as candidate for the Executive Team. We ask
candidates to write a short statement of their motivation for the task
together with their vision for the development of YESS and send it via
the mailing list.
The nomination process is* open until 1 September *2018. If there are
more than five nominations, we will organize an online election in
September.
