Dear Yessers,
I would like to candidate for the new YESS Executive Team, why I’m sending
you a few words about my person:
I am a doctoral candidate in my second year at the University
Duisburg-Essen (Aquatic ecology) and work on the effects of river
restoration for ecosystem services. With a background in Geosciences and
Physical Geography I am familiar with the concept of ecosystem services
since many years. I started to work practically with the topic in my Master
Thesis which dealt with the assessment of ecosystem services of urban ponds
in Bangladesh.
As an interdisciplinary working person, I have already experienced how
valuable the YESS network is, e.g. Journal Club or Meet-the-author where we
have the opportunity to discuss “hot topics” with people working in the
same field.
I want to make my contribution so that YESS can continue to be what it
hopefully is for many now: a network to discuss, exchange ideas, develop
collaborations and create a connection between established and young
researchers, or give them a voice.

Dear YESSers,
we are writing you today to kick off the nomination process for the new
Executive Team.
The *new Executive Team* *can have a minimum of two and up to five
members*. A brief overview of YESS and the tasks of Executive Team
members are described in an online document

Executive Team members are *elected for one year*. The new Executive Team
will also benefit from a comprehensive Handbook prepared by the current
Executive Team, to help them through their work.
You can *nominate** yourself* as candidate for the Executive Team. We ask
candidates to write a short statement of their motivation for the task
together with their vision for the development of YESS and send it via
the mailing list to the whole YESS network.
The nomination process is* open until 31 October *2019. If there are more
than five nominations, we will organize an online election.
During the nomination period we will also organize an *online YESS
General Assembly on the week 14-18 October*. The exact date and time, as
well as details on how to participate, together with an Agenda, will be
sent soon. All YESS members are encouraged to participate. In this General
Assembly, the current Executive Team will report on the activities during
the past year. It is also an opportunity for members to ask questions and
to express their interest and reasons for nominating themselves for a new
Executive Team.
