Attitudes or not, we need to be open-minded and not point fingers at
anybody. I know motorists have trouble with bicyclist, pedestrians have
trouble with motorist and vice versa. I really want to focus on
acknowledging the problem, and educate everyone to do their part if that
makes sense. The focus really isn't on who or what caused the accident but
why. Why did the accident occur? Was it inattention from people involved,
or was it a structure problem of streets and sidewalks and crosswalks? To
me, this is my opinion on how and what WSMAC focuses on. I welcome any and
all input from you, again this is just my opinion.

I observed a large Tractor Trailer hauling an oversized Backhoe, turning
Right from WCD onto Spring Street. A car stopped in the Left Turn Lane of
Spring Street, would not back up to give the T/ T driver more turning
space. He made the Turn without hitting anyone or anything. He had Large
Banners
" OVERSIZED LOAD " . Maybe he should have had A State Police or
County Sheriff Escort Cruisers but that one car driver would not back up.

It’s quite apparent that this is an attitude problem especially after

20 pedestrians just in this year alone! The statistics are sobering and
heart-breaking to me. I may hold strategy meetings several times a month,
before our Monthly Meetings. Your opinion? I feel we need to step it up a
bit and get these statistics to change for the better. Again, just my
opinion; I guess I want to move faster then is humanly possible ;)
