With the new Yellow Pedestrian signs and Dual Flashing Yellow Lights and
the Pedestrian activated Pushbutton Controls to illuminate the Dual
Flashing Yellow Strobe Lights to Stop Traffic in both directions on Maine
Street at Stroudwater Street, PEDESTRIANS are having to deal with 2 Safety
Hazards.
1. The New Sign and Dual Flashing Yellow Strobe Lights on the Westbound
Lane of Main Street are partially visually obscured by some low hanging
Tree branches and upwards growing Shrubbery.
2. If a Pedestrian wants to cross Main Street from the North Side of the
Marked Crosswalk at 741 Main Street towards Stroudwater Street and
activated the new Dual Flashing Yellow Strobe Lights to Stop Traffic, a
Vehicle Operator might not see the Dual Flashing Yellow Strobe Lights and
continue moving forwards at Risk of the Pedestrian's Safety or the Lead
Vehicle Operator may see the Dual Flashing Yellow Strobe Lights on the
Dunkin side of Main Street and Stop for the Pedestrian BUT THE OPERATOR
BEHIND THE STOPPED VEHICLE IN THE WEST LANE WILL SWING TO THEIR RIGHT IN
THE CURB PARALLEL PARKING LANE DIRECTLY IN THE PATH OF THE PEDESTRIAN .
THAT IS A VIOLATION OF SECTION 2056 PASSING A STOPPED VEHICLE IN A MOVING
LANE ON THE RIGHT WITH A PEDESTRIAN IN A MARKED CROSSWALK WITH ACTIVATED
TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES IN OPERATION.
