Regarding my not running this year is/was a NOMINATION only! NO voting has been
done yet; I have to say it over and over again: There is no I in team! What one
or two members think is a start, but HAS to go through Core Committee members

Crosswalk Improvements
The most exciting news IMO is that Public Services is in possession of the
DOT’s proposals for crosswalk improvements from the 2017 Pedestrian Safety
forum, and Eric Dudley (Director of Public Services, also our liaison to the
city, and member of this email list) has promised to deliver printed copies to
me to distribute to the Core Committee. I will do so as soon as I receive them.
Route 25 Project Information
Yesterday I found this link to a "Virtual Public Meeting" that DOT has put
together on the project to add a second through lane to William Clark Drive at
the western intersection with Main Street, heading towards Gorham. You need to
enter your name, email, and phone number to register, then there is a page of
information and numerous videos about the project. You can also leave comments.
I haven't watched it yet myself, but I'm told that the timetable for the
physical work is spring and summer of 2022.

Elections
Our bylaws call for elections for the Core Committee every January, at the
normal monthly meeting. Since we are not currently meeting in person, we will
have to do it either in an online meeting such as Zoom, or perhaps we could
utilize an online survey tool instead. I think this should have more discussion
from the current Core Committee, but let us know if you have opinions.
Regardless of the form the election takes, nominations are open! We can do this
over email, and you can nominate yourself or any member. Here is what we have
so far:
   - Chair: Open (Leelee has decided not to run this year; she will
automatically become Past Chair)
   - Vice Chair: Dennis has nominated himself, I second the nomination.
   - Secretary: Open (Kimberly stepped down a few months ago)
   - Treasurer: Kristi has nominated herself, I second the nomination.

Rock Row Area Signage
In my recent conversation with Eric, I also mentioned a personal interest of
mine, bicycle-related signage on Main Street/Route 25 past Rock Row approaching
Portland, where it becomes Brighton Avenue. If you're interested, I'll mention
that I've been talking with the Portland Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Committee
(PBPAC) in the last few months about bike lanes that Portland has been striping
leading up to the Westbrook line at Riverside. Without boring you with the
details, the bottom line is there will not be bike lanes on Westbrook's side,
for various reasons, and I'm concerned with, and talking with PBPAC about, how
Portland is transitioning the striping into Westbrook.
This is all a long way of giving you the context for the fact that Eric told me
that he could get signage posted alerting everyone to the fact that bicyclists
are allowed to use the full travel lane in that area, which I'm happy about. So
I just wanted to share that, and maybe make it a little more officially a WSMAC
request, not just me.
