Hi Community Spokes!
Some of you are involved with and aware of the Maine Trail Coalition. For
those of you who are not familiar with this new organization, please
go to their
website <https://mainetrailscoalition.org/> to find out more about it.
Currently there is a contest <https://mainetrailscoalition.org/trailcontest>
to enter in order to get maintenance work done on trails. Read the
guidelines to see if any group you are involved with is eligible.
Also, BCM's statement on the Climate Council's Action Plan was published in
the Portland Press Herald last Saturday. It is on the BCM website
<https://www.bikemaine.org/2020/11/maine-voices-climate-council-misses-chance-to-invest-in-bike-pedestrian-infrastructure/>
with
a link to the article. To show support for this position, that bike/ped
infrastructure should be a bigger part of Maine's climate action plan,
please consider writing a letter to the editor of the Press Herald or your
local newspaper. We need more voices to move the state's plan toward
investment in bike/ped!
Lastly, please continue to share the Slow ME Down campaign
<https://www.bikemaine.org/slow-maine-down-petition/> petition. The next
phase of the campaign will be Slow ME Down Towns, so think about how you
might get your town to be part of the effort to reduce speeding in Maine.
