Here is a link to a free webinar on the importance of pedestrian and
bicycling safety information for children, which I know we all agree with.
It is on Tuesday Oct 2, 1:00 - 2:00 PM EDT. The information will be
presented by the Florida DOT's Bicycle/Pedestrian Safety Program Manager.
Anyone with a computer (or probably even a smart phone) and internet
connection can watch. Last time we had one of these, I also reserved the
big front room at the Walker Library for a group viewing. I think I'm going
to refrain from doing it again, just because it's the work day for me and
not the most convenient, but I would encourage anyone else in the Committee
to check into that option. I didn't have any problem tuning in with my
computer and projecting it on a screen. I don't know if the library would
be able to provide the computer, but I think they might, if you don't have
one to bring.
I'll probably tune in from my desk at work, if my schedule is free.

Happy fall season!
The Bicycle Coalition of Maine is still working on getting the Traffic
Safety Education bill, LD 1130, passed in Maine. On Tuesday, October 2nd
there is a webinar discussing the importance of pedestrian and bicyclist
safety education for children. Florida's DOT Bike/Ped Safety Program
Manager and a researcher who launched the first Safety City program for
children in New York will share behavioral research and lessons learned in
educating children.
This is an opportunity to learn why it is so important to educate children
on walking and biking safely and what you can do to advocate for a safer
future.
