Subject: [wsmac] CyclingSavvy Portland, 9/21-22
Hello, transportation advocates,
Here's just a brief notice about the CyclingSavvy <https://cyclingsavvy.org>
classes I teach twice a year in Portland, coming up next in just a week and a
half. I know not everyone on these lists is a cyclist, or feels in need of
education about it (though even experienced people can learn something
<https://cyclingsavvy.org/2012/03/i-thought-i-knew-everything-i-needed-to-know/>
), but chances are you know someone who is and does, so please spread the word!
* Friday, 9/21, 6 PM: Truths & Techniques of Traffic Riding, a 3-hour
classroom session (no bike needed) covering the principles of traffic movement,
bicycle law, common crash types and avoidance, and strategies for making your
riding easier.
* Saturday, 9/22, 9 AM: Train Your Bike, a 3-hour skills class in a
parking lot, starting from the very beginning, starting & stopping, through
gearing, braking, and turning, ending with some emergency maneuvers.
* Saturday, 9/22, 1 PM: Tour of Portland. After lunch, we ride around
Portland to enact in real life all the knowledge and skills taught in the prior
two sessions.
A student can take just one, two, or all 3 sessions. The only rule is that
you must take the first two before the third. Sessions are $45 apiece, but only
$95 total if you purchase all 3 at once. (If you can't make these dates, that's
okay, you can still pre-pay for an unspecified "future session" to get the
price break.) Scholarships are available.
Interested students should pre-register here
<https://register.cyclingsavvy.org/groups/northern-new-england> , or contact me
with any questions.
Thanks!
