First Baptist Church is out; they have all they can do to find childcare for
church services and other activities there! Also, there's the problem of "too
many snags with background checks, liability issues, etc."

John: I can try asking at the First Baptist Church, it's next door to me and
Sarah's. Other then that, I can't think of anyone off the top of my head.

Thanks for initiating this, Shannon. Do you know if there are any special
requirements for a child care supervisor in this situation, or just anyone over
18 (or 21)? Should we aim for 2 adults? Any idea how many student volunteers we
should ask for?
WSMAC, who can we ask? I think the challenge for anyone on our committee is
that we'd like to participate in the Forum ourselves. Do we all have friends we
can ask?

I spoke with the woman who runs the child care at school and Bruce Dyer who
helps with the boys and girls club. They both sound like they can get students
to volunteer but need someone to supervise. That is not something that the BCM
can manage but if you would like to take that over, I have included their
emails below with responses.
Transportation is also something that I looked into but it is not feasible for
BCM to organize at this time. Sorry.
Thanks for your support!

April vacation went by way too quick.
If I find students to volunteer do you have adults to over see them?
Thanks,
Darlene

Subject: Childcare for a City Forum
Good morning everyone! I hope that you are enjoying a well deserved April
Break! I am emailing because there is Public Forum that is occurring at the
Westbrook Middle School and there was a question about daycare services.
The Forum is on May 4th from 6-8pm. It is being put on in conjunction with the
Bicycle Coalition of Maine and the Maine DOT. The purpose is to look at the
up tick in Pedestrian crashes and Fatalities across the state of Maine and find
some solutions.
I wanted to reach out and see if this could be an opportunity for some
volunteer hours for some students. I feel like this is something that has been
done in the past. Is this a possibility for this meeting. Please let me know
if you have any questions
and I am happy to help!
Thank again and have a great rest of your week!
