For Everyone's Information, but no pictures, While turning into Mechanic
Street from the East bound Left Turn Lane on WCD, I noticed a young Teenage
Girl, walk up to the Pushbutton Control for the Crosswalk at WCD and
Mechanic , at the Mechanic Street Public Parking Lot side, pushed the
Button, took a look across WCD and started walking down the Sidewalk, east.
I knew where she was heading. I turned on the Left Turn Green Arrow, and
into the Parking Lot.
Sure enough, she stopped at the double sided Sign where Central Street
was, mounted on a 4"x4" post that points to the Mechanic Street Crosswalk.
At the same moment, two teenage boys, across WCD at Sportsman's Hardware,
stopped facing the double sided Sign.
They stopped, started, stopped, walked across to the median cut , and
jogged across to the Parking Lot Side, while the Girl, hesitated a couple
times, stopped in the median cut, waited for eastbound traffic to stop or
clear, and walked across to the Hardware Store side of Central Street.
While all this was occurring,
there were some Rain Showers, steady enough for most drivers to turn their
Windshield Wipers " ON. "
I guess people will continue doing this until possibly, someone slips or
trips and is run over or hit. All 3 were probably coming from School.
