Hello, With the sudden Increase in Bicyclist and Pedestrian Fatalities
around Greater Portland and Maine,
I remembered this situation and thought of sharing this picture with you.
Anyone have any idea Where and What Major 4 Way Intersection this is ?
Time's Up. To my immediate Left is the Riverside Hannaford's Store and a 7
/ 11 Store and Gasoline Service Station.
Straight ahead is Riverside Street, with Route 302 / Outer Forest Avenue
crossing Riverside Street, L to R.
The LONG, HUMONGOUS TRACTOR TRAILER, LOW BED RIG was making a Right Turn
from Riverside to Rte 302, towards Windham. I do not recall seeing any "
Oversize " Banners on the Tractor.
What is Very Obvious here is the Left Turn Lane from Rte.302, Outer Forest
Avenue to Riverside Street, is NOT Stop Bar located about 2 or 3 Car
Lengths further back, like in Downtown Gorham. And, do you think Anyone in
the Left Turn Lane wanted to back up to give the Tractor Trailor Driver any
more Turning Room ? No Way in Hades !!! This was early to late Afternoon
on a weekday. The Driver eventually made his Turn, after several
nervewracking minutes without hitting anyone or anything. Does the MEDOT
know about this ? Probably not. Maybe I can find out Who I could send this
Picture to in Scarborough at their Pleasant Hill Road Office.
