Presumably it "fixes" the "grave mistakes". Cayuse is convinced the mistake(s)
was(were) confined to things like how he conceived language (a tool box now,
not the mirror from then). But Cayuse fails to take account of the implications
of this switch, i.e., the decision to use words, to speak about the concerns of
philosophy, in a different way which follows from this recognition. In fact,
the idea that one creates a ladder of nonsense up which to climb and then
discards it makes no apparent sense since everytime one meant to scale those
"heights", or wanted to get someone else to do so, one would have to recreate
the nonsense all over again. But that cannot be done, once the nonsense is seen
for what it is because then, in fact, one would have to have already climbed up.
Paradox works fine for Zen but it is not the point of philosophy. As
Wittgenstein realized, the point is to dissolve the puzzle, not prolong its
power over us.
