Sue, Yes they will use cedar bark also lots of shed deer hair to help insulate
nest and eggs. Rather late for them to still be building. Most should have
eggs or young by now. They run about a month ahead of our Goshawks and
Red-shouldered hawks in phenology. We had one Raven nest up by Crooked Lake
where the birds used "Pink Panther" fiberglass insulation stolen from a cabin
where snow collapsed the roof for a nest lining. It was amazing to see a high
stick nest topped with excessive pink insulation. They are smart and very
adaptable.

Subject: [wisb] ravens and nesting
I just watched two ravens picking pieces of cedar bark from a cedar tree in
our large cedar windrow. They were somewhat hidden by branches, but I saw one
stripping cedar bark (smallish pieces) and filling it bill then flying to the
Anderson Pond near by. The other did the same. I assume it is to add to a nest.
Does anyone know about raven or crow using cedar bark in the nests?
