A check on ponds today yielded 2 Ross's, 2 Cackling, 100 White-fronted Geese at
the Jersey/breezy Pt pond early this morning. A lone Lesser Yellowlegs was
present at the DM/WIBU pond, with 2 Greater and 1 Lesser Yellowlegs and a
Pectoral Sandpiper at the DM/I pond. About 300 White-fronted Geese were seen
on the Columbia ponds with a lone Snow Goose at DM/WIBU. Duck variety and
number was definitely down from last weekend, as was the variety of geese. It
was nice to be out in 50 degree weather and visit with some of the Madison
birders.
