Jim and I hiked to the far west side August 30. There was virtually no shorebird habitat (we saw several killdeer and one yellowlegs) - and there's been NO rain since then. Nolan Kollath, who's leading the trip, told me there was some habitat WAY to the southwest (it's a DOT mitigation site, past Zeloski proper), but it's a really long walk to get there (at least 1.5 miles, possibly 2) - with no guarantee of shorebirds. This is clearly a huge change from last year.
