Hi all!

A Western Kingbird was sallying forth for insects beside the Pottawatomi
Lighthouse on Rock Island during the Door Islands Bird Festival last Sunday
June 5 about noon. The yellow belly and white in the tail aided in the
identification made by festival guides Roma Lenehan and Charles Naeseth.
About 25 people saw the bird and it was photographed by many.

Two young eagles were observed with an adult in the same area.

The festival list stands at about 100 species, a bit shorter than in
previous years due to a dearth of warblers. The previous week-end, 20 warbler
species were observed on Washington Island.

Broad-winged Hawks were still kettling between the islands during the
festival. More about the festival later.

county
