Was in Vegas for 3 days with the main purpose of renewing our wedding vows
for our 25th wedding anniversay. Did so at Hollywood Chapel with "Elvis"
officiating. Was great fun. Anyway, managed to get out to Henderson Bird
Viewing Preserve for a couple hours Saturday morning. For anyone going to
Vegas this is a wonderful facility accessible by bus about 40 minutes south
of Vegas. Had a good variety of birds with 8 new life birds including
anna's hummingbird, eared grebe, gambel's quail, abert's towhee, verdin,
bushtit, black-tailed gnatcatcher and cinnamon teal. Also had 2 snow geese,
1 pied-billed grebe, 2 black-crowned night herons, various ducks, canada
geese, some unidentified gulls, orange-crowned warbler, white-crowned
sparrows, song sparrows and unidentified grackle. Very enjoyable side-trip
diversion from the casino scene.
