Went out for my first sunrise birding walk yesterday morning. Heard and/or saw 20 species in the woods and fields. Highlights included: 8 Tundra Swans flying over 2 Sandhills Cranes in the field Dark-eyed juncos in huge flocks Eastern Phoebes very active 2 pair of mallards We also heard chorus frogs, wood frogs, and spring peepers. AND no winter hats, jackets, or gloves required! Pretty successful morning for March 21, 2012! Now time to check out the lakes! They are almost all open. Patiently waiting for the loons!
