It was really foggy at 7:15 this morning in the arboretum and finally there
was no wind.
Highlights:

I first heard a FOY Rose-breasted Grosbeak around Pond 2. It sang just
a few slurry notes and then quit. For the life of me I could not put my
bins on it but it did whet my appetite. Later over by the Icke Boardwalk I
heard an extended version of the RBGR song. This time I was able to get
good looks at it. It was a male and the black, red and white really stood
out, even in the fog.

There were two Blue-gray Gnatcatchers at the boardwalk too.

The Sandhill Cranes are still sitting on eggs in the marsh near the
Icke Boardwalk. The female laid the eggs between March 30 and April 3 so,
with an incubation period of 28-32 days, the eggs should be hatching soon.

There were 8 Barn Swallows flying around the Visitor Center so nest
building under the southern eaves of the center will likely be underway
soon.

One Brown Thrasher was singing down by Pond 2.

I didn't see one warbler this morning! Hopefully tomorrow's warbler walk
will be more productive.

My eBird report is appended below.

Good birding to all,
