Steve, nice shots!  This looks to me like an immature male.  The flight photo 
shows gray retained juvenile feathers on the sides of the neck, making it an 
immature.  Barring on the body is not as thick as most imm females, the white 
bib is larger than on females, the back of the head is hard to see but appears 
whiter than most females, and the tail looks to have thinner, incomplete bands 
than females would show.  Hard to confirm without having bird in hand but 
that's my take on it.
