This a.m. was rather birdy. Species diversity not that great but numbers decent. Blackpolls and Tennessee's were again most numerous. Cedar waxwings have thinned out a bit. New for the Pike this fall were Nashville and Canada, plus my first fall black-throated blue- a gorgeous male. I was pishing in some warblers down low and out pops a Tennessee. From the right in my peripheral vision I see movement. Turning slowly here is the b-t blue not 8' from me. Watched him gather all the moisture from some elm leaves- leaf bathing. Heading out of town for the annual Sister Bay to Rock Island sail, although forecasted winds may turn it into a motoring trip. Will post bird sightings Sunday.
