It was another beautiful morning so I decided to try my luck and see how photogenic the Lake Barney Nelson's Sparrows were. The directions from Steve and John are great-- park at the parking area on CTY M across from Caine Rd. and then walk due south until you hit the belt of Smartweed. I saw at least 5-6 of them and there were probably more. Birders who would like to see this species should try this location--it is a relatively small and easily accessible area so finding them seems to be much easier than it has ever been (at least in my experience) at Nine Springs or either of the Milwaukee sites. With patience, I got very lucky and had one tee up in the morning sunlight.
