I heard over the weekend that my Ross's Goose sighting last fall has been accepted by the WSO as a new Wisconsin state early fall record for the species. I found the bird on September 8, a full week earlier than the previous record. It was in the Veterans Park lagoon, only three blocks from where I live. In addition to being a new state record, it was also a new life bird for me. A special thanks to Jym Mooney, Brian Hansen, Rita Wiskowski and Chris Petherick for verifying the sighting, and to Brian and Rita for providing documentary photos. I've never had a state record before (anywhere). Needless to say, I'm pretty excited!!
