Chuck Sontag left a message yesterday indicating that the Manitowoc impoundment is becoming active. In the past several days he has seen a Piping Plover, several Willets, Marbled Godwits, Wilson's Phalaropes and other shorebirds plus a Nelson's Sparrow. The latter was only around for a short period of time, while apparently many of the other species were in during the late afternoon/evening and did not linger to the next day. So, it looks like if one is in the area, it definitely is worth checking out. Good luck to all of us.
