Hi all, At the Jefferson County Landfill the gulling was good this afternoon. In half an hour I spotted: B1 Glaucous Gull B1 Thayer's Gull 1 adult Thayer's Gull candidate--didn't have the patience to wait for it to reveal all the key fieldmarks 2 adult Lesser Black-backed Gulls--one had a more extensive "hood" than the other 150 Herring Gulls 600 Ring-billed Gulls 2000 unidentified Gulls--way out at the landfill Also notable were 4 white grocery bags in trees adjacent to large agricultural fields on the drive from Lake Mills to Johnson Creek. Just as Zone-tailed Hawks supposedly increase their hunting success through Turkey Vulture mimicry perhaps Snowy Owls have undergone a similar adaptation. I bet Snowy Owls weren't even white until white polyethylene was invented. ;) Aaron Stutz Lake Mills, WI Jefferson County #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
