[wisb] Re: How do you pronounce the word "Scaup"?

OK...what I'm hearing locally is most definitely "skawp", and not "scop", as a 
couple of people have pointed out to me.

As I hinted at earlier, my pronunciation of "Scaup" is probably a byproduct of 
my lazy southern tongue. It almost sounds like "scout" when I say it. After 
all, when I say "powerful" it comes out as "parfull". :-)

I, too, say "skawp" - most of the time. Here's a link to a Bird Forum
