Spent the morning on the Horicon Marsh. Started on Main Dike Rd. Had 3 n. harriers, 1 im. bald eagle, 1 im. per. falcon and 1 r.t. hawk. Also several im. bl. cr. nightherons, about 20 gr. wh. egrets, 1 pelican, several sav. sparrow, several swamp sparrows, many coots and ducks including 5 hooded mergansers but the highlight was a new life bird for me, a horned grebe. It was on the open water on the north side just after road makes 90 degree bend to west. Watched it with the scope for about 10 minutes for very nice looks. Then went up to Hwy 49. The highlight there was a single am. pipit on the north side just west of the historical marker. It was working it's way east along waters edge, foraging as it went. Also had first of year northern pintail(missed them this spring). Lastly drove in Ledge Rd. There had first of fall ruby-crowned kinglet and am. tree sparrow. All in all a very enjoyable morning on the Marsh. Almost forgot, also had 1 marsh wren on Dike Rd.
